Here we stand, September of 2016, and the new album is just on the horizon. What a journey it has been to make this one happen. Life can be incredibly... distracting. But the reward tastes so sweet when you do away with the shell. The shell is all but in bits, after 2 of us have relocated to new abodes, survived tornadoes, dealt with stinging computer issues, schedules from the pits of hell, much more unmentioned, and now all that lies before us is that warm, delicious prize. It's been difficult pushing away from playing shows and focusing so much on the behind-the-scenes work, but we will be crawling out from our caves soon as well. When the rust cracks from our hinges and the oil cycles within us, the sun will shine, and we will witness. Thank you all so very much for standing by us during this long wait. We are endlessly gracious and have every intention of rewarding your patience. September 16th, Friday, will mark the release of our first of many songs to appear on the album "The Great Silence". "Faith in the Culling" is coming for you.
Thank you all so very deeply.
It certainly has been a while since I last vomited my thoughts onto this blog. Where to begin... where to begin...
Our second album is very close to written and pre-production, which is always short work for the talented Kyle Ritter, will be quickly finalized. Then it is on to the tofu and potatoes of true recording (the kind we actually want people to hear). We've set a deadline for ourselves to get out and start playing shows again, as a welcome opportunity has appeared on the horizon.
Wedic and I have been stewing up a video for an acoustic song that is already finished (the song) and will be included on the upcoming album (the song). I can hear the groans... "Aw shucks... acoustics?! What kind of heresy is this?!" I have no retort.
Thank you all for your patience and continued support of Subsum. The time and effort that we put into our writing will, science willing, make up for the wait.
The cycle has started again. We've begun work on new music, we're playing shows, and loving every minute of it. There is no timer on anything at this point, because quality is what matters. We like to have a couple rounds of Rochambeau before hammering the nails in, and even then, there aren't any guarantees the dick kicking won't later ensue. For those of you digging for more, we are playing locally at the listed locations and... we just might be working on another video. The subject matter, the matter of the subject, the subjects, what does it matter? We'll divvy that information when we know it ourselves. As always, thank you for taking an interest in our music. Thank you for taking the time to read my mindless diatribes as well.
We've begun work on our music video, for which song I think I will refrain from barfing forth at this time. What I will share is that it will be a great piece and upon its completion I will celebrate by sewing my own feet together. No promises. Wedic is already masterfully compiling the imagery that is now spun from the web into existence. It may be some time before it is out there for the world and already I am excited to see it.
We've also started posting our upcoming shows to our website. As you may have noticed, the first posted show is undisclosed. This is due to the fact that after a little arm-twisting, we have agreed to play an all acoustic set at a private residence, which may or may not be recorded. So, although you may be saddened by the fact that you cannot at this juncture be visually stimulated by this performance, there is a strong possibility that you will be able to hear it countless times thereafter.
That is all for now. Thank you.
We've started tossing ideas around for a music video. The theme is still very fresh, the ideas not even buds on a limb, but the projected end product, based on these talks, is going to be one hell of a video. We will be working with Daryk Wedic, our photographer and the man behind www.stitchedtogetherpictures.com, to make these visions a reality. Stick close to this one, folks. Wedic is good at what he does. I won't give any hints as to the song we will be using. You'll find out when it is finished. Still, I cannot help but express the excitement and anticipation skittering about in my head.

Welcome to Subsum. We hope everything is comfortable for you here. There is some lunchmeat in the fridge and the ends of an old loaf of bread in the cupboard if you would like a sandwich. Today is cause for celebration for several reasons. Subsum's very first full length album, Autonomic, has traveled from thoughts to sound, from sound to digital code, from digital code to compact disc, and now these compact discs have landed on my doorstep. This beautiful website has taken its first baby steps. My daughter's 3rd birthday is today (what better reason to celebrate than that?). So without further hesitation, let us tip our glasses and toast to happiness and new beginnings. Once again, welcome to Subsum.
